--MAKING YOUR PROTAGONIST WORK WITH THE READER: READER IDENTIFICATION
If you’ve done your work in chapter one, or in the opening of your story, your lead character becomes one with the reader in the quest. FOR EXAMPLE = Your lead character wants to become the best runner in the world and the reader wants him/her to win whatever the cost. Take your lead character and your readers and put him/her and them at one end of a minefield and place the ‘you are the best runners in the world prize’ at the other end.
Your reader will collect a gold medal with your protagonist and they’ll be looking for your next story/book.
